What We Do

We are a leading fundraising organisation established in 1971, committed to expanding medical outreach across Africa. Through memberships and donations, we fund an Outreach Programme that aims to eradicate Female Genital Fistula (FGF) in Kenya by 2030, as outlined by the UN, and build the capacity of healthcare workers in East Africa’s hard-to-reach areas. Our Short Stay (2 weeks or 2 months) and Annual (one year) membership plans provide members with life-saving comprehensive evacuation services during medical emergencies within our coverage area.

Our fundraising efforts, in partnership with county governments and other implementation partners, drive the implementation of our Outreach Programme. The programme focuses on building the capacity of health workers in East Africa’s hard-to-reach areas. Additionally, our Fistula Programme is dedicated to eradicating Female Genital Fistula (FGF), a debilitating condition often caused by early marriages and harmful practices, with 100,000 new cases reported annually in Kenya. Many affected women and girls live in hard-to-reach areas with limited access to care, facing severe health complications and social isolation. With your support, we provide surgeries, obstetric care, education, and advocacy to transform lives and restore dignity.

Since our founding in 1971, we have been dedicated to transforming healthcare across East Africa. Established with the help of visionaries like Maddie De Mott, our journey began with creative fundraising efforts and a passion to make a difference. From our humble start, raising KSh. 232,180 and 1,359 memberships in our first year, we have provided emergency and charity evacuations for the less fortunate, growing into a pivotal force in medical outreach.

Over the past decade, we have also focused on tackling critical issues like fistula, offering free surgeries and providing training and equipment to local health professionals.
